Wedding, Lifestyle & Commercial Photographer, Suffolk & Norfolk
I think all I did this year was blink twice and it was 2018. There are so many exciting new adventures awaiting for me next year, with lots of new projects, but I think it's important to look back and reflect on how amazing 2017 has been. Because when you sit back and think about all you've accomplished in a year, it's really quite overwhelming. (My work load is also about to triple next year and moments like these will become fast and few...) So here are some of my favourite 2017 moments:
A trip to the Forest with Dani and Ell - Spring 2017
I love this photo because it really captures Dani and Ell's relationship and the real fun we had on this shoot. I honestly think Engagement photoshoots are my favourite, they're short, sweet and capture a perfect point - your Wedding day is about you and your relationship, not what Aunt can sit next to what Great Aunt, that may have got drunk at the last family reunion and gave a few frank opinions. Your Wedding is a celebration of your relationship and the commitment you are making to one another.
What also helped a lot on this photoshoot is these guys were natural models. They could even make sense of my pathetic description of directions and believe you me, I am awful. I mean I try, I do, but my poor little brain doesn't work fast enough, so if I'm in front of you then my left would be your right, and your right would be my left... Unless I'm on the diagonal and then that's a whole new confusing kettle of fish! A very talented photographer once told me, point, just point to where you mean, there is no mistaking that clear direction. So I'm trying very hard to make that habit, because Simon Buck knows his stuff!
Anyway, we had a great walk through the Woods and by the end of it, Dani and Ell were ready for the paparazzi that comes with the big day! Here are a few of my favourite shots...
The Fish Family Photoshoot - Summer 2017
This next snapshot has got to be my favourite family shot of the year, and do you know why? I did not have to photoshop that beautiful little one to smile and look at the camera, she did it all by herself. Which means this photograph is completely natural with no edits! (Which is not as common as you'd think when shooting with little ones!)
Snow White in the Woods - Autumn 2017
Now this is a photoshoot I absolutely adore! To the point where in the new year I will be creating a new Photography package for Disney and Superhero themed Location shoots. Watch this space, as imagination has no limits...
Danika and I had a ball in the Woods this day, we may have got a little ahead of mummy and the pram, but we giggled, danced and recreated some of Snow White's greatest scenes! Yes even the red apple scene.. Or as Danika called it - 'Can we do the dead bit yet?'
The best thing about Location photoshoots is that the possibilities are endless and it's not all about standing still and smiling on cue. You can run free, make it up as you go along (of course I never do that...) and make the photoshoot into not just a collection of great shots, but a memory of the day where you just felt great about yourself.
Which leads me nicely onto a photoshoot I did in the Summer for a Raffle prize winner, the lovely Rebecca. This photoshoot was combined with a trip to 'Glam R' for a hair and beauty make over, the design of this prize was to give the winner some 'me time' to feel great and really self indulge for once. I will always remember this photoshoot, as at the end of the day, Rebecca felt exactly that. The point in the package and raffle prize was fulfilled and it couldn't have gone to a more deserving lady.
And now I'd love to leave you with a few more of my favourite snaps of 2017.
That's me, over & out.
